It was a dark and stormy night in Illinois. No kidding.
Cold horizontal rain coming down in sheets. Reports of plane crashes. In the hotel bar on the big screen the Bears and Packers on Monday Night Football are playing in 'throw back' uniforms. A girl in a grass skirt and a coconut top floats by. Are we in some sort of weird time-warp?
If that seems strange, imagine showing up for a halloween show and buying tickets at the door for $12!
Northwestern's fall ball in a hotel ballroom featuring Widespread Panic was a truly memorable experience and the last small scale halloween the band ever played.

I'm new to the podcast thing and have been checking out all the old ones and could not resist a comment here. I remember having to buy carnival tickets to exchange for beer in some wierd room. At set break I swiped a roll of tickets and handed them out like Halloween candy much to the dismay of the hotel employees. What a fun night that was. As I review these old podcasts so many good memories from the glory days.
